Bedruthan Steps
Bedruthan Steps
Bedruthan Steps is the most photographed stretch of Cornwall's north coast — a line of granite sea stacks standing proud in the Atlantic surf between Mawgan Porth and Porthcothan. Folklore names them the stepping stones of a Cornish giant called Bedruthan; geology explains them as harder outcrops left behind as the softer cliffs retreated over millennia. The National Trust looks after the cliffs and the steep flight of steps down from Carnewas that brings you onto the beach — only safely walkable at low tide. At dawn the stacks catch the first eastern light; at sunset they silhouette against the sea. A defining image of North Cornwall.
